AGAPE LESSON 28
A FATHERLESS GENERATION
(INSTITUTION)
[Isaiah25v1—12] O Lord, You are my God, I will exalt You, I will praise Your name, for You have done
wonderful things; Your counsels of old are faithful and truth. (2) For You have made a city a ruin, a
fortified city a ruin, a palace of foreigners to be a city no more; it will never be rebuilt. (3) Therefore,
the strong people will glorify You; the city of the terrible nations will fear You. (4) For You have been a
strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from
the heat; for the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against a wall. (5) You will reduce the noise of
the aliens, as heat in a dry place; as heat in the shadow of a cloud, the song of the terrible ones will
be diminished.
(6) And in this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all people, a feast of choice pieces, a feast of
wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of well-refined wines on the lees. (7) And He will
destroy on this mountain the surface of the covering cast over all people, and the veil that is spread
over all nations. (8) He will swallow up death forever, and the Lord will wipe away tears from all
faces; the rebuke of His people He will take away from all the earth; for the Lord has spoken. (9) And
it will be said in that day: “Behold, this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He will save us. This
is the Lord; we have waited for Him; we will be glad and rejoice in His salvation.
(10) For on this mountain the hand of the Lord will rest, and Moab shall be trampled down under
Him, as straw is trampled down for the refuse heap. (11) And He will spread out His hands in their
midst as a swimmer reaches out to swim, and He will bring down their pride together with the
trickery of their hands. (12) The fortress of the high fort of your walls He will bring down, lay low, and
bring to the ground, down to the dust.
The above is a praise song to God for what He has purposed to do in the end-times. For me, this song
gives us a cross-section of the church in the end-times. Most of the church is locked up in institutions.
Institutions are non-relational. Moabites (v10) are the descendants of Moab born out of incest – Lot
and his eldest daughter (Genesis19v37). The generation that despises fathers, ‘What father?
Mother’s father.
[Matthew13v47—50] Again, the kingdom of God is like a dragnet that was cast into the sea (nations)
and gathered some of every kind, (48) which when it was full, they drew to shore; and they sat down
and gathered the good into vessels, but threw the bad away. (49) So, it will be at the end of the age.
The angels will come forth, separate the wicked from among the just, (50) and cast them into the
furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
God is working His purpose that He foreordained before the foundation of the world.
[Ephesians1v3—4] Blessed be God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who had blessed us with every
spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, (4) just as He chose us in Him before the foundation
of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, (5) having predestined us
to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ , to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, (6) to the
praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us acceptable in the Beloved.
(v2) For You have made the city into a ruin, a fortified city into a ruin, a palace of foreigners to be a
city no more; it will never be rebuilt.
2
We read a song in — [Isaiah26v1—6] In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah: We have
a strong city; God will appoint salvation for walls and bulwarks. (2) Open the gates that the righteous
nation which keeps the truth may enter in. (3) You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is
stayed in You, because he trusts in You. (4) Trust in the Lord forever, for in Yah, the Lord, is
everlasting strength. (5) For He brings down those who dwell on high, the lofty city; He lays it low; He
lays it low to the ground, He brings it down to the dust. (6) The foot shall tread it down—the feet of
the poor and the steps of the needy.
[Isaiah24v10—11] The city of confusion is broken down; every house is shut up, so that non may go
in. (11) There is a cry for wine in the streets, all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone.
City (v2) is symbolic the of church. [Hebrews12v22] But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city
of the Living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, (23) to the general.
assembly and church of the First-born who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the
spirits of just men made perfect, (24) to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of
sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.
(v3) Therefore the strong people will glorify You; the city of the terrible nations will fear You.
Strong people = the true church, the Bride of Christ.
The city of the terrible nations = false church (institution)
[1John4v4—6] You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is
greater than he who is in the world. (5) They are of the world. Therefore, they speak as the world,
and the world hears them. (6) We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does
not hear us. By this we know the Spirit of Truth and the spirit of error.
(v4) You have been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the
storm, a shade from the heat; for the blast of the terrible ones, is as a storm against the wall.
[1Samuel 2v8—10] He raises the poor from the dust and the beggar from the ash heap, to set them
among the princes and make them inherit the throne of glory. For the pillars of the earth are the
Lord’s, and He has set the earth upon them. (9) He will guard the feet of His saints, but the wicked
shall be silent in darkness. For by strength no man shall prevail. (10) The adversaries of the Lord shall
be broken in pieces; from heaven He will thunder against them. The Lord will judge the ends of the
earth.
(v6) And in this mountain, the Lord of hosts will make for all people a feast of choice pieces, a feast
wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of well refined wines on the lees.
“In this mountain” – refers to Mount Zion.
The Lord of hosts prepares unto all people a feast – this denotes the Lord declaring war on His
enemies. The war is won by us eating and partaking of the feast that the Lord has prepared. In the
end-times the Lord is going to prepare a Lord’s supper. Supper is taken at the end of the day and it
denotes the end-times.
A feast of choice pieces (shemen in Hebrew) meaning oil. The root word of “Getsemane” or “oil
press” This is the place where Jesus went through such immense stress and agony, that He sweat
blood. Olive oil is produced when the olive fruit is crushed under great weight in an olive press = in
the same manner Jesus was crushed under the weight of our sins and under God’s judgement. The
3
olives are crushed to produce the oil that is used today for healing. In this feast of fat things that the
Lord has prepared for us in these last days, there is healing in abundance.
“of wines on the lees well refined”—lees (shemer in Hebrew – from the root shamar meaning to
keep, to hedge about as with thorns), that is, guard; generally, to protect.
Fat things full of marrow (macha in Hebrew) – not just the marrow of the bone, but is commonly
used to mean = blot out, exterminate and wipe out things that plague us. The marrow plays a part in
our immune system. It produces antibodies to fight viruses and diseases. The Lord has prepared a rich
feast of healing anointing to wipe out, blot out disease and sicknesses. We are reminded of the
multitudes that came to Jesus when He went up the mountain, bringing with them the lame, the
blind, the mute, the maimed and the sick. There was a flowing anointing from Jesus to save, heal and
restore; that is, He exterminated and wiped-out sicknesses (Mathew15v29—31).
(v7) And He will destroy on this mountain the surface of the covering cast over all people, and the veil
that is spread over all nations.
[2Corinthians3v14–15] But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains veiled
in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. (15) But even to this
day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. (16) Nevertheless, when one turns to the Lord, the
veil is taken away.
(v8) – – – -, the rebuke of His people He will take away from all the earth; for the Lord has spoken.
[Revelation 21v4] And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death,
nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for former things have passed away.
(v9) And it will be said in that day; “Behold, this is our God.” [Psalm33v18—22] Behold, the eye of the
Lord is upon them that fear Him, upon them that fear His mercy; (19) to deliver their soul from death,
and to keep them alive in famine. (20) Our soul waits for the Lord: He is our help and shield, (21) for
our heart shall rejoice in Him, because we have trusted in His holy name. (22) Let Your mercy O Lord,
be upon us, just as we hope in You.
(v10) For on this mountain the hand of the Lord will rest, and Moab shall be trampled down under
Him, as straw is trampled down for the refuse heap.
This mountain = Mount Zion
Moab = Lot’s son by incest with his eldest daughter (Genesis 19v36). Moab = the fatherless
generation.
(v11) – – – -, and He will bring down their pride, together with the trickery of their hands.
This speaks of all the strategies and gimmicks they use to increase numbers and amas wealth.
[Job 5v12—14] He frustrates the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot carry out their
plans. (13) He catches the wise in their craftiness, and the counsel of the cunning comes quickly upon
them. (14) They meet with darkness in the daytime, and grope at noonday as in the night.
(v12) The fortress of the high fort for your walls He will bring down, lay low, and bring to the ground,
down to the dust.
