AGAPE LESSON 11

AGAPE LESSON 11
SEIZING THE KAIROS MOMENT
Put together by Bongie Kuzwayo

A Kairos moment is a specific window\an opportune time when God invades our programs within which He intends to achieve something. We sometimes refer to these as the moves of God.
[John4v9] I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is called day; the night is coming when no one can work.
[Galatians4v4—5] But when the fulness of time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, (5) to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
(Joshua chapter 2) Read the whole chapter.
• [Joshua2v1] Now Joshua, the son of Nun sent two men from acacia Groove to spy secretly, saying, “Go view the land, especially Jericho.” So, they went, and came to the house of a harlot named Rahab, and lodged there.
Sent out two men = the two were now the sent ones, meaning they were given an apostolic mandate. To invade any region, the apostles are sent out first.
1Corinthians 12v28] And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that, miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.
Two = a number of witness.
[Luke7v19] And John calling two of his disciples to him, sent them to Jesus, saying, “Are You the coming One or do we look for another?”
Spy (ragal in Hebrew), meaning to go about as explorer, spy, search.
[Joshua 1v3] Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon, I have given you, as I said to Moses.
Secretly (cherish in Hebrew), meaning silently, cunningly.
[Matthew2v7] Then Herod, when he had secretly called the wise men, determined from them what time the star appeared. (8) And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the young Child, and when you have found Him, bring back word to me, that I may come and worship Him also.”
View (raah in Hebrew) – inspect, learn about, perceive, to discern, find out.
Harlot (zanah in Hebrew) meaning a cult prostitute. This is a completely different harlot from the one in Proverbs chapter 7 and the one in Revelation 17 – this one is very apostolic.
[Matthew21v31b] “Assuredly, I say to you that tax collectors and harlots enter the kingdom of God before you.
House/gate = church
2
[Genesis28v16–17] Then Jacob woke from his sleep and said, “Surely, the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it. (17) And he was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.
Lodged = (shakab in Hebrew) – to rest, relax.
• [Joshua2v3] So the king of Jericho sent to Rahab, saying, “Bring out the men who have come to you, who have entered your house, for they have come to search out all the country.”
Here the king of Jericho is attempting to oppose the move of God; just like pharaoh did when he said, “When you do the duties of a midwife for the Hebrew women, and see them on the birth-stools, if it is a son, you shall kill him, but if it is a daughter, then she shall live.” (Exodus1v16)
• [Joshua 2v4—5] Then the woman took the two men and hid them. So, she said, “Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know where they were from. (5) And it happened as the gate was being shut, when it was dark, that the men went out. Where the men went, I do not know.
Hid them = to hide/treasure/protect
Gate = house of God (Genesis28v17)
The woman here is taking sides with God against the king of Jericho – just like the midwives in Egypt took sides with God against Pharaoh and protected the new-born boys of the Hebrews (Exodus1v19).
[Judges5v23] “Curse Meroz, said the Angel of the Lord, “Curse its inhabitants bitterly, because they did not come to the help of the Lord, to help the Lord against the mighty.”
Meroz was a close neighbour of the children of Israel who stood on the fence and spectated when Israel was fighting her long-standing enemy, Jabin.
For God to achieve His agenda He needs an available human vessel that He can use. Jael was available to come to the help of the Lord.
[Judges4v21] Then Jael, Heber’s wife, took a tent peg and took a hammer in her hand, and went softly to him and drove the tent-peg into his temple, and it went down into the ground, for he was fast asleep and weary. So, he died.
Mary came before hand to anoint the body of Jesus.
[Mark 14v9] And being at Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, as He was at the table, a woman came, having an alabaster flask of very costly oil of spikenard. Then she broke the flask and poured it on His head. (4) But there were some who were indignant among themselves, and said, “Why was this fragrant oil wasted? (5) For it might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii and given to the poor.” And they criticized her sharply. (6) But Jesus said, “Let her alone, “Why do you trouble her? She has done a good work for Me. (7) For you have the poor with you always, and whenever you wish, you may do them good; but Me you do not have always. (8) She has done what she could. She has come beforehand to anoint My body for burial. (9) Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her. “
• [Joshua2v6] But she had brought them up to the roof and hidden them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order in the roof.
3
• [Exodus2v2—3] So the woman conceived and bore a son. And when she saw that he was a beautiful child, she hid him three months. (3) But when she could no longer hide him, she took an ark of bulrushes for him, daubed it with asphalt and pitch, put the child in it, and laid it in the reeds by the river bank.
Brought them up = (aiah in Hebrew) – to be exalted, to ascend.
[Psalm24v3] Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? (4) He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, nor sworn deceitfully.
Stalks of flax = linen
• [Joshua2v7–10] Then the men pursued them by the road to the Jordan, to the fords. And as soon as those who pursued them had gone out, they shut the gate. (8) Before they lay down, she came up to them on the roof, (9) and said to the men, “I know that the Lord has given you the land, that the terror of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land are faint-hearted because of you. (10) For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were on the other side of the Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom you destroyed.
She came up to them on the roof. This symbolizes the ascent into the temple, into the presence of the God of the whole earth.
[1Kings6v8] The doorway for the middle story was on the right side of the temple. They went up by the stairs to the middle story, and from the middle story to the third.
This church is well aware of the current events and the seasons of God.
[1Chronicles 12v32] of the sons of Issachar who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel aught to do, their chiefs were two hundred, and all their brethren were at their command.
• [Joshua2v11] And as soon as we heard these things, our heart melted; neither did there remain anymore courage in anyone because of you, for the Lord your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath.
This church confesses the God of the Hebrews.
• [Joshua2v12—13] Now therefore, I beg you, swear to me by the Lord, since I have shown you kindness, that you will also show kindness to my father’s house, and give me a true token, (13) and spare my father, my mother, my brothers, my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.
This church displays a lot of prudence. She negotiates with the men to reciprocate the kindness she has shown them. Her discretion tells her to flow with God’s agenda, and is making sure that all in her household will not miss out in what God is doing.
• [Joshua2v15] Then she let them down by a rope through the window, for her house was on a city wall; she dwelt on the wall.
Window = a window of assessment – was one of the features of the ark of deliverance built by Noah. The Lord instructed Noah to build a window for the ark (Genesis6v16), and this he used for sending out the raven and a dove, to assess the level of the water after the flood (Genesis8v6).
4
Wall = symbolizes the apostolic fathering grace. Gates cannot stand alone – they have to hinge on the wall.
Her house = church.
[Genesis28v16—17] Then Jacob woke from his sleep and said, “Surely, the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.” (17) And he was afraid, and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.
• [Joshua2v16] And she said to them, “Get to the mountain, lest the pursuers meet you. Hide there, three days, until the pursuers return. Afterwards you may go your way.”
Get to the mountain = This is now a sending church, using her apostolic fathering grace to send. [Luke10v3] “Go your way. Behold I send you out as lambs among wolves.”
Hide there, three days.
Three stands for that which is solid, real, substantial, complete and entire. It marks divine completion or perfection.
The search would be complete in three days, and so the coast would be clear.
• [Joshua2v17—18] So the men said to her, “We will be blameless of this oath of yours which you have made with us swear, (18) unless, when we come into the land, you bind this line of scarlet cord in the window through which you let us down, and unless you bring your father, your mother, your brothers and all your father’s household to your own home.
The scarlet cord symbolizes Christ the Redeemer.
Scarlet stands for the blood atonement; it symbolizes the finished work on the cross.
[Exodus12v7, 13] And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it. (13) Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.
Being let down by the scarlet cord was an assurance of their salvation. They will sure be hidden from the eyes of their pursuers, to safely get to the mountain.
• [Joshua2v21] Then she said, “According to your word, so be it.” And she sent them away, and they departed. And she bound the scarlet cord to the window.
The scarlet cord on the window was an assurance of their salvation and adoption as sons in the family of God – that is Rahab and her family. This was prefiguring the New Testament church – hence Rahab became one of Jesus’ ancestry; see her listed among the heroes of faith (Hebrews 11v31).
